Amazing location and super cute space! It is an old house with creaky floors and doors but that is part of the character! There is AC in only the living room which means the bedrooms can be a bit hot in summer but we managed with a fan (although would recc the host buy one for each bedroom). Regardless would stay here again as it is great value for money and the host is really responsive and so helpful!

If you want to be near Ponsonby- (much better and nicer that the city) this is an excellent spot. It’s walkable and parking is not too much trouble.
If you’re older or have trouble with stairs you should know the entrance is down some old wooden stairs that are a bit rickety.
The house is a lovely old villa with a done up kitchen, but old style bathroom, with (only) 1 toilet. They have everything you might need, but as it’s run by a company and not the owners you have the pros and cons that come with that - very responsive, but also a bit militant and passive aggressive in replies - 3 toilet rolls are not going to last 3 people a week, nor 1 tablespoon of washing powder, and I wouldn’t expect to have to buy more at nearly $500NZD a night.
You are staying here for the location, to have space, and if you plan on cooking. The beds are fine for a couple nights but for a week and again the cost, you think they could do with an upgrade.
This would be a perfect weekend in Akl spot. 🙂

The house was lovely and reminded me of the style of unique homes in San Francisco but updated. The location was ideal and walking distance to amazing restaurants and shopping. The host team provided great meal recommendations. Prego was the best Italian restaurant I’ve been to in a long time. I would recommend staying here again.

Really enjoyed our stay at this lovely home. It is absolutely PERFECT for location if you’re wanting to stay in Ponsonby it’s really close to bars and restaurants (walking distance) so we saved a lot of money on Ubers. The house itself is lovely and had everything we need. The showers really nice and big, the rooms are nice and the kitchen has everything you need. Netflix on the TV is a bonus. It is a louder are as you are close to the busy street but that was no issue for us. Loved having the heating in the bed and being able to control seperately on each side of the bed.

Can’t beat the location. Quick walk to all that Ponsonby has to offer, yet feels private from the street and neighbours.
Very charming, character home. Other reviews noted the house being small, we disagree…felt very spacious for a home of this type and relative to this neighbourhood. Very bright and ‘homey’ feeling. Amazing kitchen. Beautiful space.
Other reviews also mentioned a dirty couch and rug, we also disagree with this…was fine for us.
Highly recommend.
Only complaints: no working wine bottle opener or can opener. No nespresso machine but indicated available. And wasn’t a fan of the third-party requirements…already upload ID and personal information into the Air BnB app, don’t like doing it again and providing personal info to an unknown third-party. I know this is supposed to add increased security, but no other Air BnB we stayed at in Auckland required us to do this.
Otherwise, all was good.

We loved staying here! Much prefer a home over apartment styles. And this home and area is just stunning. They have a lovely outdoor spaces and it’s a very easy home to live in. The bedrooms aren’t right next to each other too so perfect if you’re with a group. So close to Ponsonby Road too!!! The best area in Auckland for wining and dining. Thanks for having us 😊

This house in Ponsonby was amazing - not only it was very spacious and in a quiet street, but it was perfectly located for our trips and staying in it felt special. The porch, the kitchen, the bathroom... We accommodated in it shortly after being totally disappointed with another AirBnB and we cannot thank the team for providing it to us so quickly enough. Sitting in the back porch, sipping a drink and letting the day pass by was exactly what we need to calm or nerves and enjoy last few days in NZ. Thank you so much for providing us your home, we enjoyed every single minute there!

Nous avons passé un séjour incroyable dans cette maison si bien placée. Nous nous réjouissons d'y revenir après nos visites du jour, tant elle est confortable et accueillante. This was a last minute choice when our pre-arranged accomodation turned out to be less than desirable. Managed to book here within 30 minutes of walking through the door.
The place was amazing, old world charm with the modern amenities needed.
Everything suits the character of the area me the outside spaces and all the French doors made it even more welcoming.
Highly recommend this place as it is less than 3km from Auckland city attractions.

My family and I (5 adults) agreed our stay at EJ’s house was a memorable one. The house was clean, charming, beautiful, and cozy. The beddings were clean, good smelling, and comfortable. Great location. Easy trip downtown (maybe 10 minute drive). Bit of noise at night from the nightlife but it wasn’t disruptive. Clean and tidy space. It was cold while we were here so we did not get to enjoy the large outdoor spaces while we were here. We will have to come back for that.

This is a fantastic location in a fantastic part of Auckland. It is very close to amenities, walkable to Westhaven, picture perfect surrounds, and all of the great NZ fashion locations are right up the road. You just need to put on your walking shoes.
The house is little, but is warm and cosy (we had a very cold snap) and has everything you need. Team EJ provided all of the right details in a timely way to allow us to enjoy everything there was to offer.
Highly recommend this property for a cheeky get-away to Auckland, and congrats Team EJ on your hosting skills.

We had a lovely stay @ the place. The house has a unique style and was very comfortable for 5 people. There are a lot of good stores/restaurants/bars right on Ponsonby, @ walking distance.

Our family of 5 enjoyed our stay. The location is perfect for wandering to Ponsonby Road or even downtown and is set on a quiet residential street with ample parking. The management company was helpful and we had good communication during our stay about check in/out and any questions we had. The house had all the amenities we needed to have a comfortable trip- washer, dryer, dryer rack, dishwasher, stove, fridge etc. The property was clean and well maintained and spacious enough for our our older teen boys who enjoyed exploring the neighborhood and popping out for food and shopping. The sushi restaurants and ice cream parlors were a hit and all within a 5 minute walk. Plus the nearby food courts, clothing stores, book shop and art galleries and numerous coffee shops was perfect.

Wonderful home with everything you could possibly need. A few short steps from the best street with some of the best restaurants and shops in the entire city (in my humble opinion).
We loved everything about it and will definitely be back.
Hosts we’re extremely responsive and accommodating (I had to order a cot/crib for my little one with little notice and they were incredibly helpful).

This property was a fantastic space located extremely close to everything that you would want from Ponsonby. Great space for a family. The communication was fast and clear with helpful reminders for things like parking rubbish removal. The outdoor deck area is great to sit in the sun whilst eating or reading. Great spot, very quiet, and we enjoyed the front verandah for afternoon wine. The cottage was perfect for 3 adults. And the kitchen area very good. Much better than hiring a city apartment with small balcony!

Lovely house, with easy street parking. So close to Ponsonby St which is lovely to wander and has great cafes and restaurants. Was ideal to watch the NYE fireworks as there is a viewpoint right on the corner of the street! Would highly recommend.

The stylish interior and outdoors were perfect for relaxing in between getting out and about. The house is central to a lively neighbourhood, however, the house is in a quiet street so you will not be disturbed. We could easily walk to cafes, bars and restaurants; and explore the neighbouring suburbs. Loved finding a range of local farmer's markets. On street parking was no problem. Highly recommended,.

This is a fabulously character-laden bungalow just off Ponsonby Road. Comfortable accommodation for 5 adults with 2 doubles and one single bedroom. Everything you need for your home away from home is right here.
Auckland is extremely hilly so be ready to walk and get fitter doing it.
The Countdown is an excellent supermarket to get you all sorted so you do t spend all your cash on eating out. It’s great to do, but you can run through your cash quickly at $5 for one cup of coffee.
Recommended: Ponsonby Road has a fabulous fish and chip shop called Hook. Ming and his wife run it. He starts at 4am with his bakery (you have to be quick because there is a LOT of demand for their bread!), then it’s fish and chips. I’m English and I take my fish and chips very seriously as I have lived in Canada for 19 years and they just can’t do it the same there. Ming’s fish was like a heavenly taste of home; it’s perfect every time. I went a lot because it was irresistible. And try the pineapple fritters too - amazing! They are really lovely people; my last meal was from Hook and Ming came out to give me a hug as I was leaving the chippy. Lovely people.
New Zealand gets into your soul. You can’t help it. The people are friendly and genuine, the landscape is wonderful. I plan to return and stay again at 22 Norfolk Street. Thanks Jason and Eric!
