DO NOT STAY HERE! I've never written a negative review, but this place is so appalling it warrants an urgent warning to others. Upon arrival, we were overwhelmed by a strong, musty odor, making the home feel neglected. Each light fixture is covered in webs, & we found MULTIPLE cockroaches and spiders throughout the house—final straw was spiders IN THE KIDS' BEDS! This alone is enough to make the property uninhabitable. It's obvious the home has not been properly maintained. The conditions are not only unsanitary but disturbing. To make it worse, the actual state of the home bears little resemblance to the misleading photos in the listing. We contacted Airbnb support WITHIN 45 min., providing ample photographic evidence of the infestations. Despite this, the host is refusing our $800 refund b/c we didn't contact them in a "timely" manner! We did not—& could not—stay a single night here. It's beyond unacceptable that this property is still listed. It should be removed from the site.

At no point did you contact us directly regarding your concerns, which meant we had no opportunity to assist you in real time. We would have responded immediately—as we always do—by arranging additional cleaning, pest control, or alternative options to ensure your comfort. Following your report to Airbnb, we promptly sent a staff member to inspect the property. They found the home to be clean and in good condition, with no signs of infestation or the severe issues you described. It’s also important to note that you've previously stayed at other properties we manage and, in each case, have pursued full refunds—despite occupying the homes. Additionally, we’ve reviewed feedback from other hosts you've stayed with, and at least one of them reported a nearly identical situation. This ongoing pattern has been communicated to Airbnb for their review. We take great care to ensure our listings are well-maintained, professionally cleaned, and accurately represented in our photos and descriptions. While we understand that not every space will suit every guest’s preferences, we believe in fairness and transparency—for both our guests and our fellow hosts. We loved the neighborhood and views. Very peaceful neighborhood. Beds were comfortable, plenty of room for the family. A good value for the location and amenities. We would stay again.

Team EJ were good communicators, and fair. We knew this house was inexpensive compared to others of the same size, and you get what you pay for -- it's old and worn, and in a neighbourhood without much going on. But it was also cleaned poorly, so we spent the first couple days cleaning the place. Team EJ tried hard to make our stay more comfortable, and refunded the cleaning fee, which was kind of them.

While the house is located with a beautiful view and Team EJ do a great job, I can't recommend this house for safety reasons. In the first night my wife got an electric shock from a power board, that had exposed wirings, she couldn't see in the dark. When this happened the fuses in the central electric box didn't respond, potentially having the ability to kill you. Luckily, my wife wasn't touching any second metal object at the time and survived. The next morning I fell down the stairs with a baby of 6 months in my arm. The individual steps are quite short (a lot shorter than my feet) and they are all covered with carpet. If you are aware of this and you have been living in the house for some time, they are okay to use, you place your feet sideways, but if not, it's like slipping on a banana peel. Luckily again, the baby only cried for a bit and was okay after a short time. So while the house is huge and appears to be good value for money, I wouldn't stay there again.

Spacious house with a great view. Close to the bus stop that goes straight into the city. Woolies and restaurants within a 20 min walk. Hosts friendly and super responsive. Would definitely stay again
