I don’t like leaving negative reviews, but unfortunately, this stay didn’t meet my expectations. I should have paid closer attention to previous reviews. While the surfaces were clean, I found the house quite dusty overall. Furniture and appliances need to be pulled out and vacuumed behind them. The couch cushions also needed washing or replacing. The space was quite dark, and the deck view, where neighbours parked their cars, wasn’t inviting. The skylight in the bedroom was covered with tin foil and children’s band-aids. Not realising it was a skylight, I sent a photo to the host, who responded quickly and explained that a previous guest must have done it. While their response was polite, I wondered if the place had been properly checked before my stay. That said, the host was communicative and helpful, and I see that others have had better experiences. I really wanted to enjoy my stay, but unfortunately, I left feeling quite disappointed.

Really disappointed in stay, moved out early to another location as family we’re getting unwell from dirty house and mold on curtains. Over priced for what you get , would hate for travellers to stay there and think NZ homes are like that. Do not recommend this place

The only positive aspect of our two-week stay was the host’s prompt communication. Unfortunately, that’s where the good experience ended. The listing was misleading, and the property was poorly maintained. The unit was dusty and unclean, with dirty blinds, light switches, and putrid scatter cushions. Bedding was subpar, with unusable pillows. A skylight in the bedroom made sleeping difficult. The kitchen was unhygienic, with sticky, dirty crockery and cookware, tarnished cutlery, and a peeling microwave interior. The barbecue was rusted and unusable, and the “amazing garden view” looked like a dump. Despite paying a cleaning fee, we had to clean the unit ourselves, with little to no cleaning supplies provided. The host replaced the microwave after our complaint, but we couldn’t spend our holiday waiting for other fixes that should've been done beforehand. A very small partial refund was offered, but it didn’t reflect the extent of the issues. Not value for money—wouldn’t recommend.

Great communication with the host.... Very responsive and helpful. The exact access for Ubers was an issue- difficult to provide exact address as place down a long drive so Ubers drop you far up the road so can be an issue to carry luggage etc. No light down the drive at night time to walk..rely on phone light. The skylight in the main bedroom is problematic if you want to lie in. Had an internet outage which took 4 hours to come back on. Got a very small refund but significant work productivity lost. None of the Windows open apart from the toilet and bathroom so can get stuffy over summer but fans were provided to cool the place.

Quiet place to stay. Good location close to city centre etc. Clean and tidy. Had all the things we needed in the kitchen which was really helpful. Only downside was skylight in main bedroom made it VERY light during the night. Good communication from Team EJ.

Easy to check in. Host was very responsive. The property had the essentials. And is situated in a quiet area. Inside the house was tidy. Outside needed more love, grass not cut, carport not swept, the outside of the house had green tinge to it like it needed to be washed from the moss. The staircase had overgrown with vines. The beddings in the house was not to standard. Pillows were barely pillows more like empty pillow cases. I suggest bringing pillows. The duvets didn’t have covers instead it was sandwiched between two flat sheets. There was rubbish under the beds. Some of the windows didn’t open. The wooden railing around the deck is not stable this needs to be fixed as it wobbles when you lean on it.

Staying at this Airbnb for 3 nights turned out to be a wonderful decision! The host went above and beyond to ensure my comfort throughout my stay. It’s a lovely place and relatively quite given a busy road. Good location in terms of public transport and shops. The lounge/kitchen are cosy. With a little bit more work and care, the place can be much better. It was tidy in the arrival but as the time passed I started noticing things that were not apparent immediately. The rug needs proper cleaning so does the freestanding oven as switches were covered in grease. Beds are extremely uncomfortable. Pillows need to be replaced as I cannot even call them pillows. Smaller bedroom’s ceiling needs fixing as it has mould patches. Water pressure was not great and i struggled to get it to the comfortable temperature as it was either hot or cool. Master bedroom solar light was an issue for me as I could not go down for a nap during the day. Kitchen is spacious and equipped nicely if you into cooking while staying. The host was responsive.

The accommodation met all the main needs, was clean on arrival and was true to the photos, but was due some maintenance. The bathroom and both bedrooms had some mold on the ceiling, some of the kitchen appliances were only partly functional, and a few other minor issues. All management of the accommodation was done remotely; there was no-one available on site throughout the stay. This communication via email was responsive and some of the issues were resolved promptly, but having somebody available on site, even just around check-in, might have avoided some of these issues or resolved them proactively, rather than relying on guests to report them.

Nice little place- not quite what we expected but good enough. Clear light in the bedroom let's light beam in at 7am. Which would be fine normally but as I worked Half the night this prevented any sleep in. Toilet and Shower leak slightly but can be shut off at the wall with each. Other than that it did the job.

The secluded location and unique layout of the unit was refreshing for an Auckland stay. Differentiating from some of the more sterile AirBnB places were lots of books, games, artistic features. It had lots of good character. This was a good set-up for a great stay. However, the unit was not ready to be rented. There are some pretty serious issues which need to be addressed for safety and comfort, and significant amounts of deferred maintenance. Overall the unit was clean. BYO Netflix. The most significant issues were painted shut and a dangerous windows (drop open at the risk of finger tips), loud-constantly running toilet which had to be shut off at the wall, and a lot of pesky flies. Rather than address these issues, we were asked to go to the store and fumigate the unit, taking away from our holiday. Numerous other issues indicate the hosts are not overly concerned with maintenance. Rather we were asked to leave 5 star reviews, which may explain the decent rating.

We were slightly disappointed with our trip. Overall it is a reasonable 2 bedroom house in the suburbs of Auckland. It is just off a main road but is surrounded by trees so is quiet and secluded. There is a couple of restaurants nearby and it is around 2km to the beach. It is managed by a company so it feels less personal than other places we’ve stayed and there seems to be less attention to detail / thoughtful touches. The things that we found disappointing were that there was no cot or high chair at the place and there were no logs provided for the fire. There is a dishwasher but no dishwasher tablets were provided, the same for the coffee machine. In addition the property was not very clean with dust everywhere and nothing clean with which to wash the dishes. The shower head holder was broken but I hope this will now be fixed for future guests. We contacted the team managing the property after our first night to explain the issues. They responded after a few hours to offer to come to clean the property and bring dishwasher tablets & coffee pods (the cot was offered with a €50 extra charge). Communication was fine and the team were very nice.

Not a bad place, however main bed was extremely hard and very uncomfortable. Thanks to the host who tried to fix the issue with a topper but even that didn't help too much. Shower water pressure also poor. These were the main issues otherwise generally a good place.

Positive: House was nice, roomy. Good to have Netflix. Negative: The pillows on the beds were AWFUL. At least 20 years old, flat, nasty. Beds similar. Terrible on my back. Complained about this a year ago, nothing's changed.
