Positive: Clean. The apartment had everything we needed. Location is great. Amazing views. A big plus for the access to pool and gym. Negative: The check-in process with all the required pre-checkin-info on a separate webpage seems unnecessary and it's a bit of a hassle to both pick-up and drop-off the keys in a lockbox several blocks away in Takapuna.

We enjoyed the stay overall. Positive: Good view. Clean. Facilities are good. Negative: Heat pump was very noisy. Friday night partying neighbours loud music. Bed too soft. Cold air draft coming in to the room. Bit tricky with parking in the ground floor.

Such a great location and the views were nothing short of mind blowing. The apartment was very well equipped the gym is awesome and I can't say enough about the location, super walkable! The only reason I took a star off is the bed is very uncomfortable. I woke up a few times unable to turn my neck, had to get two massages to loosen it up. But luckily it was walkable because the location, again, awesome.

Great place, but the prebooking and damages arrangements were difficult and annoying Positive: good room, great views, very clean and quite well appointed Negative: The booking process was difficult, through a third party platform, requiring lots of detail including copies of drivers licence and credit cards. Also, the damage waiver was pushed very heavily, I received about 8 emails about this, never had it before. 1 email even came AFTER we had checked out! Also, we had a $500 charge on our credit card against any damages.

This is a great location, with an even better view. We've stayed in this building several times over the last 10 years and the 15th floor views to the South are awesome. It's a typical studio room with a Murphy bed, basic furniture and appliances, the bathroom is very nice and modern, it gets bonus points for having AC (not something that common in NZ). I'd stay here again if the scheduling works out.

The view from the place is exactly like the photo. You can see the Sky Tower and sea right from the home. The room is also completely soundproof. We didn’t hear any noise during our 9 night stay. Also It’s close to Takapuna Beach, restaurants, and shops. The bus stop to the CBD is just a 1-2 minute walk away. Highly recommend! 👍

Positive: The checkin process was very challenging, the online portal was very challenging to use because I was booking it for my colleague. Negative: Checkin process was so challenging. My colleague didn't know where to get the keys until <24 hours which isn't enough time.

This is my second long stay with team EJ at one of their Airbnb rentals, and same experience, smooth easy to follow clear instructions. Quick responses and extremely helpful. The rental itself was in a really unique spot, with awesome views of the city and harbour bridge, and especially in the evening. Everything was excellent apart from the quality of the bed, ie pull down bed and cleaniness of pillows, duvet and mattress protector not great. TV was replaced without remote when we were there. Tuned at the time but couldn’t get it to work. Apart from these easily remedied actions the place could be 10/10.

I staid in the apartment for 8 nights and overall it was a nice stay. Pros: Good and quiet location with good bus connection to the city. Spotless linen and a comfortable bed. A number of good cafes, shops and restaurants and activities nearby, and the beautiful Takapuna beach nearby. Great pool and gym. Has almost everything you need for a longer or shorter stays (however no dishwasher, no oven and only one loose induction plate) Cons: The apartment would benefit of some refurbishing and deep clean. The key collection is complex, where you have to collect the keys 10 min walk away from the property and you can't store the luggage safely in the building while you collect the key. Not sure I was talking to a human or a bot in the message communication.

well first of all they gave us the wrong pin code to get the key to the apartment that was a 10min walk down the road!! we were standing out at 2am after our flight in the rain trying to get into a lockbox we didn’t have the right code to. however. they MADE me do a pre check in guide thru airbnb and NONE of the info was correct!!!! the bed was a fold out couch & fold out from the wall it was like sleeping on cardboard. i left with such a bad neck and back bc the sleeping arrangements was awful. the sheets were stained it was bloody disgusting. by far one of the worst experiences i’ve ever had w airbnb 1 star. WAY TOO EXPENSIVE FOR WHAT IT IS. it’s smaller than a shoebox anyone travelling w more than 2 people will struggle extremely. even with two people there’s not enough room to live comfortably in the apartment and for almost $1000 for 4 nights is a joke. fix urself. fix ur prices & get a grip. maybe check ur pre checks so ur guests can actually get into their rooms

Texted the emergency contact number concerning a loud noise coming from the air conditioning and they never replied. Therefore had no air conditioning for the whole stay. Apart from that the apartment was good :)

Pillow cases wrong sizes for pillows on spare bed, duvets had no covers just a sheet on top, one sheet had a hole in it, duvets are not as white as they should be, black foldable chair was broken, pull out couch mattress springy and uncomfortable, had to layer with extra duvet for any comfort, pool and spa were nice but didn’t expect a random ledge out the side of the building and on level two when told “Rooftop Spa and Pool”. Overall not bad but not as expected.

Awesome location and view with free parking. The gym and heated pool were great after a long drive. Minor issue of the balcony not being accessible because the door was broken and duct taped. Otherwise a great short stay.

This apartment is in a great location and Takapuna is beautiful. There are plenty of restaurants, walks and things to do around. Flex Fitness Takapuna is a great gym. What you should know: - Wifi. The wifi is not high speed, it's very slow. We were getting speeds of 7-17mbps. Before you book, check this has been rectified. I recommend asking for a speed test. - Balcony. The view out of the apartment is gorgeous but when we were there (November 2022) the door was taped up so we couldn't access the balcony. There are no windows, only the balcony door, so there's no way of getting fresh air in unless it's fixed. Previous reviews had flagged this but we believed it had been fixed when we booked. It wasn't fixed, so check before you book as it makes a massive difference. Overall the apartment is fine for a few days but probably not if you need good internet or if not having fresh air bothers you. The Spencer Hotel itself is also cheaper per night, so it's a viable alternative.

The room was exactly as pictured, with every aspect being clean and tidy. The kitchen facilities were great and had everything we needed as a young family travelling. The only slight disappointment was not being able to get some fresh air on the balcony as the door was taped and unable to be opened. Overall, highly recommend the property as it’s in a quiet, but convenient location for everything you can experience in Takapuna.

We had everything we needed for a two weeks stay. The location was convenient and we were able to walk everywhere without needing a vehicle. The heated pool is nice to have for a quick swim. The checkin process was slightly inconvenient but otherwise all good.

Great location in Takapuna and only a short walk away from the restaurants and shops. Unfortunately the balcony was not accessible at the time of our stay but we still had a great view of the city which my parents enjoyed as this was their first time in New Zealand/Auckland. Key collection was easy and close to apartment (just ensure you read the instructions prior to check in) and it also had secure parking. The apartment has everything you need and you have access to a pool, a gym and a tennis court. Quick and informative communication from Eric and Jason.

Me and my partner both loved it here! The pool the spa loved it and THE ROOM WAS SO CLEAN coming from to people with bad asthma not musty/dusty at all …. we where comfortable and the view is even more amazing in person the access in and out was super convenient and the gym and tennis court where a big bonus WOULD RECOMMEND!

Great spot to stay in Takapuna, with the added bonus of stunning views across to the city and a car park if required, although pretty much everything is within walking distance - beach, shops, cinema, theatre, restaurants etc. Information and check in/out instructions from host are clearly communicated and response to questions very quick. Although the hotel is slightly dated, the room is clean and tidy and has everything you need for a comfortable and enjoyable stay.

Had a beautiful time at this air bnb ! Had amazing communication from the host, which made the stay so easy. Positive: Stayed in the Spencer for several months previously and its perect for my needs. The response to questions was good.. Negative: Finding the key was a mission after a long flight and spoiled the start. The bathroom floor tiles are in poor condition and cracked. I found beer bottle caps on the floor. The iron and ironing board is useless. Being from the uk I did not get the correct information so kept having to ask questions via sms.it would be better if the key safe was in the parking area not 1/4 mile away on a signpost. Would be better to have a full information pack in apartment.

Excellent spot for views over Auckland. With a mix of sun and showers, we saw many rainbows over the CBD. The room is cozy, and the fridge is noisy, but the place is close to a bus stop, cafés, grocery stores, and beaches.

Great place, great view from the terrace. There are super facilities in the building you can use pools , gym and tennis. A good communication with the owners . My only thing would be that I would expect the windows to be clean and the room to spell fresh for the $120 cleaning fee which was not the case . Otherwise the place was very functional and clean inside.

Booked this for me and the kids and the main reason was that there was a pool to use for the kids. I even contacted them before I booked and enquired about the pool. When I got there, my swipe did not work for the pool and reception could not assist as this is a private apartment. Contacted the owners through the App first, but when no reply, I rang them and they said they got my message (could have let me know) and they will sort something out. Was there for 3 days and they never sorted it out and we could not use it for the whole trip and was one of the main reasons for booking. All I got after my booking was we are so sorry. Never will I use them again.

This place was amazing for a couples getaway. Great hosts and stunning view. Instructions given were straight forward and the carpark which was located just inside the front gate, made it easy to come and go. Also, my partner spilled food on herself the drive back, and it was very convenient to have a washing machine supplied with powder just in case of those situations 😂. Thanks Team EJ.

Negative: The room wasn't clean as we expected. A mat protector of sofa bed had a lot of stain and there ware leftover amenities and food. And we couldn't use the facilities because the key that the host gave didn't work it. My son was expected to swim at the pool and it was so pity.

This property is in a great location, close to coffee shops and the beach. The only downside is that the bed wasn’t the most comfortable to sleep on, however I would still recommend this place to stay!!!!

Negative: No access to the pool was extremely disappointing- spoke to reception who said the owners needed to organise that by following the COVID rules for the property. Others were using the pool and enjoying it. I rang the contact number provided on my booking form and finally got to speak to someone to no avail. Feel I have been duped as one of the main reasons for booking the apartment was because of the pool.

Bodily fluid stained mattress protector, blood stained sheet, crack tiles in the bathroom (hazard), leaky fridge to name a few. When you pay a fee you should be getting the basics in a clean and acceptable state, condition and standard. It's unfair and unreasonable for guests to put up with this in a location and place like this at full price. No offer of compensation either, overall disappointing and I won't be returning here.

For the best veiw in Auckland, this is the place to be. A cute well appointed apartment. The only thing more impressive than that view was the water pressure in the shower. We may have stayed in longer than 4 minutes. (Auckland Council Water Restriction)

The views are fantastic, so worth every minute! The apartment is comfy and tidy, perfect location, walking distance to everything. The hosts are easy to communicate with, responsive and helpful. The check in unfortunately is not ideal as you have to pick up and drop off the key at the other end of Takapuna so make sure you allocate extra time for that. All in all a really great place and I recommend it!

Clean, tidy and fast communication. AWESOME gym and pool and spa although we didn't use them as much as we have done in previous stays. Awesome to have own parking space. Great views, good location, and averagely priced. Unfortunately the advertised wifi was not working. Since it was a short stay we alerted the owners and said we were ok with using our mobile data. Then we noticed one light bulb was missing, and two not working in the main living area. Please note, the main bed is a fold-into-the-wall 'Murphy Bed'. On the positive side the apartment was spotlessly clean, initial communication was good and the above items, if attended to, would make this a good place to spend a few days in Takapuna. The included car park was an absolute bonus.

Great location and really great communication and easy self-checkin. The hosts were very responsive and easy to communicate with. The apartment has a great view out towards the city and the room was tidy and nicely laid out. There was an issue with the WIFI, but this didn’t bother me as I have unlimited mobile data and didn’t need the WIFI at the apartment at all as I was mostly out and about. I mentioned this to the hosts after me check out as I didn’t feel the need to bother them over the weekend — they were going to fix this before their next booking.

I was expecting much more from this flat based on the price and reviews. The bed is a Murphy bed which I would compare to the comfort of a pull-out couch. The construction noise in the building is very loud and disturbing. The key must be picked up from a lock-box a block away from the unit and it wasn’t there at the agreed upon time, I had to wait for the cleaner to bring it. We had also agreed on a late checkout, but this was not communicated to the cleaner who arrived 45 minutes before I was meant to leave. There is a washing machine but no detergent was provided. Overall I was not satisfied with my stay.

The Spencer on Byron is a great apartment building. Located in the heart of Takapuna one of Aucklands best beaches! The view looks out back to the city and is like a postcard!

A good place to stay with beautiful views except when we were there, the building was undergoing remedial work so the construction sounds don't help. Also, be careful the allocated car park is actually in the loading bay NOT inside the accommodation parking - the instructions are unclear so beware of this!

The construction should not affect your stay as our unit is located in the upper floor, far from the building entrance. The carpark entrance is a drive in from the road, on the right, just next to the building entrance. Clear instructions are included on our check-in guide. My wife and I booked this studio for 11 nights and arrived late on the first night. We slept well, it's surprising how comfortable those fold down stretcher beds are. But shortly after 8am the next morning we were woken by concrete drills screeching through dry concrete! The noise reminded me of those old style dentist drills that that go right through your brain! I opened the curtains and discovered scaffolding halfway up our glass balcony! I was truly amazed they can erect scaffolding right around the 14th floor of a high rise! The Filipino builders working on the scaffolding were very friendly, they smiled and waved at my wife when they saw her laying in bed ! They explained they lift the scaffolding up every 3 months once they complete each level. Which will be wonderful for this studio, they can replace the all the cracked tiles in the bathroom, and also the carpet in the living area that has a hole the size of an Australian 50 cent coin. I called that 'the money spot' The builders said they will be using the drills every day so we quickly came up with the motto... "Vacate by 8, arrive at 5" That way we avoided the noise but still got to enjoy the fabulous views of the city over top of the scaffolding in the evening. My wife and I took turns at wiping the concrete dust off the window. The hosts, Jason and Derek are not to blame, they had no clue about the renovation work. We are happy that they finally know and will be able to inform future guests! I must mention how much we enjoyed the quiet evenings chatting and really appreciated that the tv didn't work, very peaceful. But after 3 nights we decided to move on and cancel the remaining 8 nights here. Jason and Derek sent us a lovely thoughtful note saying they hope we enjoyed the stay and asked us to give them a good rating and review to help their little business... sounds like fiction but it's a true story! Fantastic location, great value. The apartment suited our 4-person family really well. Location amazing, the view of the sun setting over the city, and the proximity to one of the best areas in Auckland, with the new entertainment precincts, plus brilliant kids play areas down at the beach. Loads of great cafes and restaurants. Apartment had all amenities, cooking, washing etc, and the beds fold up into the wall to increase the already good space. Would definitely return here again

Really great view and convenient location to many good restaurants around Takapuna, the mall and supermarket. The room was clean and spacious for 3 people. However, the sofa bed was a bit uncomfortable, but not bad for a short stay. Overall, really enjoyed my stay here!

We were only really there to sleep as my daughter was in a sports comp from early morning til late at night. So had ever Positive: Great location. Great communication with owners when I couldn’t get the tv to work. Negative: The fold out beds mattress - you can feel the springs through the bed!

An excellent place to stay while at Takapuna Beach Positive: View, comfort, quiet, cleanliness, these were all excellent however the real gem of this place was the outdoor pool and hot tub as well as gym facilities. I do regular strength training using a Smith machine and free weights. When traveling I never expect to find these. Well this location had them, and I used them. Other equipment was also better than normal. The pool was also uniformly shallow enough for doing laps. Finally, the outside deck was well equipped with comfortable chairs. Spent several very pleasant days outside at Sea & City. Oh yes, and the food shops nearby were superb. Negative: I don't care much for combo washer/dryers as they never work well. This one at least did dry the clothes but it took about 3 hours. Nothing else was "disliked". Great location.
